Savoury Mince

Here is my savoury mince recipe, with pictures, which you can use when making lasagna, moussaka, bolognese sauce or anything else which requires mince. It's even delicious served on top of a baked potato or sweet potato.

In a deep pot, fry two chopped onions in a little oil, until they are slightly browned and soft. Next, add two or three peppers (green, yellow or red) and cook them with the onions until they have softened.

Then add 1kg of free-range ground beef mince and stir fry it until all parts are light brown and no "red bits" remain.

Then, add two 410g tins of Italian Whole Peeled tomatoes and 50ml of red wine (the wine is optional, but gives a nice flavour to your mince).

Then add a few chopped celery sticks, 3 sliced carrots and any other similar veggies which you have available. I even threw some chopped green beans into this pot...

Add a generous amount of fresh herbs. Today, I used finely chopped sage, thyme and origanum. But you don't have to use all of these. Dried origanum works just as nicely.

If you have a pressure cooker, cook your mince on 2 rings for 20 minutes. If you don't know how this works, drop me a comment below and i'll explain how to use it.

Alternatively, in a normal pot, turn your heat down to low, and let the mince simmer for half an hour and it should be done.

This recipe freezes beautifully, and is a great way to make a quick easy dinner if you are short of time. You can microwave it easily to defrost it if you don't remember to take it out in the morning.
